Think Pink, Save Lives
You’ve seen the ribbons, the Yoplait yogurt tops…. In honor of it being National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, I thought I’d think pink, too. Here is a link to my JFP column about pink wines which was published last month. They cut off the part about food pairings and my BLTA recipe, so I’ll include it here.
When trying to decide what food to serve with rose, think picnic or BBQ. Most of the food served at either will make a great companion to the wine. Grilled bratwurst, cold pasta salads, oysters, shrimp cocktail, and more.
Here’s a recipe for the perfect late summer supper, including my favorite pairing. Grab an extra cold glass of rosé and fix yourself the following:
Farley’s Fancy BLT
2 pieces of freshly baked sourdough bread
Slathering of Blue Plate (sorry, no substitutions accepted) mayo
Thick slices of tomato, heirloom or as close to off the vine as you can get them
4-5 crispy pieces of pancetta (bacon if you can’t find it)
Thinly sliced avocado
Torn leaves of romaine lettuce or handful of mixed greens
Assemble ingredients into one glorious pile and serve with grilled corn on the cob and your favorite version of chilled potato salad… cause I’m sure not sharing my mama’s recipe.
Here’s another spot for learning more about breast cancer.
