Sure Things: Death, Taxes, and Wine
But not necessarily in that order, right?
I have a confession to make. I am a bit of a procrastinator. No, really, I am. When I received both my W-2’s, they got moved from place to place, waiting patiently to be examined. But it wasn’t until last week that I buckled down and started thinking about the situation. Here’s the thing. I put them off too long. It was too late to find someone to do them for me, without dishing out too much. But I probably missed out on all kinds of wine (I mean work) related deductions. After all, wine is at the center of my regular job and the freelance writing I do on the side. I saved a majority of my receipts from last year, but I didn’t really know how to go about dealing with it all. ( I pay my bills on time, but am at a loss with most other financial matters)
So, I’ll send in my little bit this time and keep trucking along making my purchases. The many bottles I drink and write about, books on the subject, the new camera I need to buy for taking pictures, another wine fridge to keep the bottles safe, etc. With the hope that next year, the mountain of wine receipts will make a small dent. After all, if I get any money back from my 2008 return, you can guess what I’ll be buying with it……
