Oysters and Bubbles, Oh Boy
If, like me, you’re craving those succulent little shells of raw goodness, I highly recommend Sea Salt in Berkeley, a charming little place. We chose three of the seven types of oysters that were listed on the ‘raw bar’ part of the menu. The bad thing about them, though, is that I can never afford to eat as many as I want. However, I noticed on the menu that there’s a happy hour from 4 to 6, which includes $1 oysters, Chef’s choice. (I’ll definitely have to go back on my day off, when I can get there during that time.) That night I had to settle for only six, the Kusshi being my favorite. Since it’s a classic pairing, and since BK and I were celebrating, we had to have sparkling wine. With only four choices, I picked the Roederer from Anderson Valley–always a solid selection. It went nicely with the saltiness of the seafood. And since I hadn’t gotten my fill, I ordered the oyster po’boy as my entree. The bubbles also highlighted the sandwich, a much smaller version than what they serve down south. A good thing, since I had made cheesecake for dessert…
