My Rubber Chicken Followed Me to Work
Rubber chicken pictorial at Rosenblum Cellars: a day in the life

Rosenblum Cellars is known for being a dog-friendly winery, where our canine friends are greeted with milk bones and a big bowl of water. It seems that rubber chickens are not greeted with such welcome. However, doggy regulars Elvis and Franny seemed quite happy to examine the visitor thoroughly…

After the somewhat demoralizing body search, rubber chicken headed up to the tasting room, where other customers eye him a bit warily. He started to feel like a celebrity, though, when they started snapping pictures of him.

Apparently, we didn’t pour enough wine for rubber chicken to get his drink on (he damned us for looking out for his safety), so the next thing you know, he’s down in the cellar. I guess he figured if he couldn’t convince me to give him bigger tastes, then he would head straight for the source. When I found him there, it seemed he’d gotten Edgar, one of the cellar guys, to help him climb on top of the barrel, where he then tried to dive right in. Looks like his head was a little too big.

Rubber chicken’s next stop was to hop over to the kitchen area. I found him in the refrigerator, snooping through employees’ lunches. I think we may have found the culprit in the mystery of who was eating Kevin’s lunches.
Except I didn’t know rubber chicken had followed me to work before.
He’s pretty sneaky, that one….

When I dragged him away from the food and back into the office, tragedy loomed bright on the horizon. Rubber chicken spotted an unexpected sight: another rubber chicken! Aura also knows those crazy guys at Twisted Oak, and her signed rubber chicken usually rests peacefully on her computer. My chicken was not quite as docile and attacked. Aura and I did our best to pull them apart, to no avail.

We were scared we were about to have a cockfight on our hands. They even set the scene with a barbed wire fence. Just as I was about to call the ASPCA, the tides turned. Someone gave them a bottle of wine, and they drank themselves into friendship, then passed out.
Overall, it was a very exciting journey, one that I’m not looking to repeat any time soon.

ROTFLOL! We have a rubber chicken schtick at our house, too!
Our rubber chicken(s) hide in -almost- plain sight, and then someone has to find them and shriek:’Chicken!’ then find an even more creative place to ‘hide/not hide’ the chicken.
Great fun. Especially when you have company and notice that the rubber chicken is sticking out of the vcr. (Then spend an hour wondering if anyone else will notice…..)
LOL!

Oh Farley, this is wonderful! I’m glad I’m not the only person who has a rubber chicken :-) In fact, my husband & I play the “rubber chicken game” - one person hides the chicken somewhere in the house and the other person has to try and find it. Our chicken is currently folded up into a jar of bath salts, awaiting discovery :-)

Noreen and Chloe,
You guys are great for having an ongoing rubber chicken game (and for visiting)! I will have to incorporate that into my home life, as well as work. Too funny.
Plus, I would love to be more crafty, so I’ll be hanging out at your blogs more often.

Farley - I’m only just now getting her to comment. I did have my husband vote for us though :) I just had to tell you what fun it was checking this all out. We live on a farm and raise show chickens so it was especially fun for me and my family :)
