Buy Wine on the Cheap
Readers and drinkers, the other day I asked you for wine shop advice for my neck of the woods. Well, thanks to a co-worker, I checked out an unusual source for wine today and may have hit the jackpot. The Grocery Outlet (Bargains Only! they say) in Oakland, on Broadway between 29th and 30th, may just have delivered what I needed. Not only did I find a wine for Wine Blogging Wednesday 39 for only $4, but apparently Narsai David recommended going here and the very wine I bought. I also stocked up on some other interesting whites: a Gewurztraminer from Israel, a Pinot Grigio from New York, and a Gruner Veltliner, not a one over $5. Now, granted, storage may not have been optimal and these could be bad or cooked. But getting five wines for about $20? I’m willing to take my chances…and I’ll keep you updated on how they turn out.
